Did you know…..

That Manistee Lake Pizzeria & bakery used to be Ford’s store?  Yep, right in the middle of a beautiful neighborhood nestled around Manistee Lake in Kalkaska Michigan. Ford’s Store was first established in the early 1950s by Mr. and Mrs. Ford. It went through a couple different sets of hands then finally was purchased by Chuck & Dee Bondy. They ran it for many years. Their little store was well known & loved throughout this lakeside community.  

They closed the store down and sold it in the late 90’s. 

Fast forward to late 2001, Mike & I (I'm Marilynn) moved up here with our two lil munchkins Jonathon & Sommer from the Detroit area. For the next 23 years we made the old “Ford store” building into our home while working for the family’s business.  Our kids graduated and moved out on their own by 2019... Now what??

After all these years working for family, we started chatting about “wouldn’t it be something if we turned half of the house back into a commercial kitchen and make some good pizzas“ I mean, in our opinion we make good food & felt this area needed it, we even told Chuck who still lived next door to us. 

During one of those conversations, Mike threw out there that he always thought it would be fun to make donuts… 

Well then, there’s a no-brainer!   Sooo after A LOT of research, permits, inspections, and back to the drawing board several (million) times, we FINALLY figured this lil dream out… Hence, I proudly with all my heart give you our lil neighborhood carryout Manistee Lake Pizzeria & Bakery where you'll find good eats and make great memories hopefully for traditions to come!
